Keeping Skin Clear With African Extracts

Oh my has my face taken a beating after SA Fashion Week. I literally had a different makeup look 5 days in a row. I am talking full facebeat y’all. So I definitely needed product that was going to clean my skin from the core every night, after a heavy night of fashion weeking.

One thing I cannot stand is sitting more than 10 minutes to do a full cleansing routine. Who has that time? I need to catch these Zzzzz.

The beautiful people of African Extracts sent me their Classic range to test out and tell you if I dig it or nah. Disclaimer: I had used their face wash before and fell in love with how it left my skin, but my pesky mom stole it from me, so I was glad to test out more of their products.

They sent me the Deep Cleansing Classic Face Wash, Toner, Day cream and Night cream to test out. So let’s dive into it.

To prep my face I washed with the Deep Cleansing Classic Face Wash on my face and neck for about 2 weeks. The results so far is that I have fewer blackheads around my nose and chin, which I really had a problem with before using this product. I did breakout a bit, but I think that is because of the change of product, and toxins being extracted from my face.

Side note: Y’all this face wash doubles up as a makeup remover HALLELUJAH, and it really works. I literally have to wash my face once and 90% of my heavy fashion week makeup is gone

Active Ingredients: Vitamin B5, Green Rooibos

For my day to day moisturiser I used to use coconut oil, but it left my skin feeling a bit dry during change of weather. So switching to the Moisturizing Day Cream has helped a lot because it has SPF 15. I am such an advocate for using some kind of sun protection no matter if the sun is out or not, because at some point this black will crack. The day cream isn’t heavy and doesn’t leave my face oily after a while.

Active Ingredients: Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Green Rooibos

After a full day of being exposed to the dusty streets of Joburg ( I love you nonetheless), I wash my face again with the Classic Face Wash and then get to toning with the Refreshing Toner. My skin feels so clean and fresh after using this, and I can see the extra dirt on the cotton ball after using only one time. I must say that the toner tastes horrible and smells quite strong, but that won’t stop me from using it. This is probably my fav product so far, and it has really helped with creating an even tone around my forehead.

Active Ingredients: Witch Hazel, Green Rooibos

The Nourishing Night Cream is the final touch to this routine and when I put it on I feel like I am a skin care guru who really appreciates ones skin. It is so smooth, non greasy and leaves me feeling calm, that is probably from the Chamomile extract. I get a lot more face kisses from Husbabe since I have been using this night cream.

Active Ingredients: Chamomile, Jojoba Seed Oil, Vitamin A, C, E and B5, Green Rooibos

Conclusion: Before using African Extracts Classic Range I had such an issue with combination skin. Day time it would be dry then gradually get oily. Now I don’t have either issue. My skin tone is becoming more even, but will update you once I have finished the toner. A few breakouts here and there but nothing too alarming.

My fav thing about African Extracts is that it is a homegrown product #SupportLocal, and it does not test on animals.  Anything that says Rooibos I am down for. You can also get it everywhere, from your local grocery, drug store or purchasing the products online.

Products I am eyeing next:  Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover, and Cleansing Facial Wipes
